Defense can be either general prowess, move, or weapon skill-- this is because duelling is going to feature fairly prominently and using just move or general prowess for the table isn't quite right. I'm likely going to propose it as a general house-rule anyhow.
Basket/cup hilted rapiers/swords/main gauche can use the hilt as a defense-- value is as a target shield( just a one but its something) on the weapon side of the body. Because of the lack of body armor I'm likely to allow two points( as a buckler).

That stuff is about, but sorta falling out of favor as people are starting to prefer shooting each other. Common soldiers wear a buff coat( jack/leather more or less) and a helmet, but cavalry seems to keep to tradition and wear more plate armor.
