Hi, I'm new to this game. I've had the Conan game for years but never played it. My kids want to play, so here I am. I found out about this site from the Conan Yahoo group. Below is a question I posed there.
Just walking through some trial fights and noticed the armor reduced movement, which affects initiative and defense, but does not reduce Animal Reflexes for the surprise check.
Does anyone else think this is odd? I can see where it would not affect "danger sense" but with reflexes we're talking about a physical response. Wouldn't armor affect that too?

It depends on your own concept of just what animal reflexes is. The text is pretty vague - "has amazing cat-like reflexes". If you think that means the character's mental reaction speed is faster than a regular person's, which lets them formulate a plan for getting the drop on an opponent faster, maybe armor shouldn't affect it. But if you think it means that the character has hair-trigger fast-twitch muscles & literally starts taking action faster than a regular person, armor probably should impair that.
So I would say you & the players are free to choose whichever alternative makes better sense to you.
